Speed Study

We're looking for 2-4 players from a team sports background such as football, rugby, hockey, netball, GAA, etc to be part of a free, 6-week speed improvement study.

Ideal candidates will:

  • Be 14 years of age or older
  • Play a team sport at a good level, possibly up to academy or higher levels
  • Never have received any structured coaching or training on how to improve acceleration and speed
  • Be motivated and committed to improving their speed and game performances

You will be required to commit to 2 training sessions per week for 6 weeks. Each training session will last for 60-90min. Training is scheduled to take place at Rugby Avenue running track and playing fields, Coleraine on a Tuesday and Thursday evening starting promptly at 6pm.

You will be part of a study to monitor how teaching movement skills and training power through resisted running improves both acceleration and sprint speed in team sport athletes.

Testing and analysis will be carried out using electronic timing and video analysis.

Total training volume per session will be between 100 – 500 metres.

If you’d like to be a part of this study, please enter your details below.

We will contact you via email with details as soon as restrictions are lifted and a return to outside sport can resume.
